National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA) has called on Nigerian youths and adults to avoid risky behaviours that predisposes to HIV/AIDS especially during the festive season.
The was contained in a statement by the Director General of NACA, Dr Gambo Aliyu to facilitate with the Muslim faithful as they celebrate the Eid-El Kabir.
NACA uses the occasion to call on Nigerians to reflect on the important lessons of sacrifice, dedication, love, care and unity brought by Eid-El-Kabir stressing the need to show love and care to persons living with HIV/AIDS.
The statement therefore urges Nigerians to shun stigma and discrimination against persons living with HIV/AIDS while calling on carriers to be careful not to spread the virus.
Dr. Aliyu stressed the need to “celebrate with caution and for individuals to test and know their HIV statuses as it remains the gateway to HIV/AIDS Care, Treatment, Prevention and Control.
