Governors tasks Muslims on peaceful co-existence

Sokoto state Governor, Aminu Tambuwal have enjoined the people of the state to imbibe the spirit of brotherhood and virtues that symbolized the holy season for the sole purpose of securing the reward from Almighty and the benefit of the society.

The Governor stated this in his Sallah address to the people of the state.

He urged the people in the state to use the period of rest and engage themselves in the reflection of the divine favors the humanity enjoys and be grateful to the Almighty.

On security, The Governor said the state have not relented in it efforts to tackling the situation, through sustained support to security agencies.

He noted that his administration would continue to collaborate with key stakeholders in capturing and containing bandits and kidnappers in the state.

The Governor commended the cooperation of the traditional institution and supplications of the Ulama, under the guidance of His Eminence, the Sultan of Sokoto.

He added that the value and efficacy of prayers cannot be overemphasized, especially in this period of an important act of worship.

KANO STATE

Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano state has congratulated the entire people of Kano over the coming of Eid-Kabir, urging all to see to the peaceful and healthy Sallah period, with strict observance of COVID-19 protocols.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Malam Abba Anwar.

“I have to congratulate the Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, Chairman of Kano State Council of Emirs, and all other Emirs, the Ulamas, members of the business community, women and youth and the entire people over the coming of this Sallah period,” Governor Ganduje stated.

The Governor urged the citizens to obey and follow the protocols to prevent the spread.

BORNO STATE

Eid prayers was observed peacefully amidst restriction of vehicular movement in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital. 

Thousands of Muslim faithful converged on various Eid grounds in the metropolis to observe the two unit prayers with virtually non-adherence to COVID-19 protocols.

At the Ramat Square eid ground, Imam Idaini of Borno, Shettima Mamman Saleh in his sermon shortly after the prayers, enjoined muslims to imbibe the spirit of sacrifice as exemplified by prophet Abraham. 

He encouraged well spirited individuals and philanthropists to spend share with vulnerable people especially the IDPs during the festive period to give them a sense of belonging. 

Imam Shettima Mamman praised God Almighty for witnessing another Eid, called on Nigerians to live in peace with one another.

He offered special prayers for peace to reign in the state and the entire country. 

The Imam Idaini then slaughtered his ram signifying that other muslim faithful can perform their sacrificial act.

The Eid prayer had in attendance Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, Senators Kashim Shettima, Ali Ndume and Abubakar Kyari, members of House of Representatives, Inspector General of Police Usman Alkali Baba, Shehu of Borno Alhaji Abubakar Garbai Elkanemi and other dignitaries. 

KEBBI STATE

In the same vein, Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State, want people to be more tolerant with each other irrespective of religion and ethnicity.

Governor Atiku Bagudu, made the call in a message to felicitate with the people of the state on the occasion of the Eid-el-Kabir.

He also advocated for the urgent need for the citizens of the country to show more love and respect for each other and to be more patriotic to the country Nigeria.

While congratulating the Muslim Ummah in the state for the Eid-Kabir, Governor Bagudu, said Sallah period was a solemn and real time to shower love and respect as well as imbibe the virtues of assisting each other.

“There is no better period than now to exhibit the virtues and sterling qualities of our Noble Prophet Muhammad (SAW) in this Holy Month”.

The Governor, appealed to Nigerians to support the security agencies and other critical stakeholders to ensure the return of normalcy, peace, unity and security of the nation.

YOBE STATE

Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Bunkli has called on the citizens to support, cooperate and encourage security operatives in their effort to restore peace in all communities across Yobe state and beyond.

Governor Mai Mala Buni gave the charge in his Sallah message to the people of the state.
