The Federal Government has acquired two hi-tech drones for the Accident Investigation Bureau, AIB.
The AIB Commissioner, Mr Akin Olateru who disclosed this in an interview with newsmen in Lagos at the sideline of the Airport Business Summit said, as an organization that deals with aircraft accident investigation, it cannot ignore the many benefits of the drone technology if deployed at crash sites.
“The use of drones in an accident investigation is limitless. It not only offers a cheaper and faster deployment on arrival at accident site than helicopters but also offers less interference on the site due to the absence of significant downwash as compared with helicopters”, he said.
He added that the drones would be deployed par location, saying AIB had trained 20 staff on how to operate the technology.
