The Federal Government has commenced a program to incorporate the blind and other persons living with disability in its sensitization to curb the spread COVID-19 across the country.
The program is being executed in partnership with UNICEF, the European Union, the national center for disease control, NCDC and the center for communication and social impact CCSI as implementing partners.
Flagging off the distribution of the brail materials at the school for the blind Jabbi , Abuja the programme director center for communication and social impact, Mrs Adenike Ayodele said the programe was borne out of the need to give directly impact on people living with disability in respect to the covid 19 pandemic.
The head of risk communication NCDC, Mr. yahaya disu said the initiative would ensure that there is behavioral change amongst the disabled person and reminded nigerians that covid 19 is still very rampant and dangerous amongst nigerians.
Some blind beneficiaries who spoke with radio nigeria expressed gratitude to the federal government and its partners for the initiative.
The senior special assistant to the president on disability matters Dr. Samuel Ankeli said the program was in line with the commitment of the Buhari administration to always give a sense of belonging to Nigerian living with disability.
