A large number of bandits invaded Federal Government College Birnin Yauri in Ngaski local government area of the Kebbi State, some few kilometers after Yauri town and abducted students and staff.
The attack is the latest in a series of mass abductions in schools across the northern parts of the country.
Police spokesperson in the state DSP Nafiu Abubakar said three teachers are missing and a police was killed in the co-ed school.
He said the Police Mobile Force, Anti-kidnapping and Counter-terrorism units are currently combing nearby forests, routes and suspected hideouts of the criminals.
House of Representatives Member representing Yauri/Sanga/Ngaski federal constituency of Kebbi State, Dr Tanko Sununu urged the federal government to urgently deploy more security personnel to Yauri.
Dr Sununu, the Chairman House Committee on Health Care Services said told National Assembly Correspondents that the situation, if not urgently checked would lead to food insecurity being the site of massive rice production.
While condemning the attack and several others across the country, the lawmaker emphasized the need for more synergy among the security agencies and support from the citizens.
He said recommendations of a recent National Security Summit organized by the House are being implemented, expressing the hope that it would assist in bringing to an end security challenges across the country.
