FG opens bid to auction recovered assets

The Interministerial Committee on forfeited assets to the federal government has opened bidding to select auctioneers to dispose the assets.

The Chairman of the Committee and Solicitor General of the Federation, Mr. Dayo Apata, declared the bidding open, in Abuja, with about 2000 auctioneers.

Mr. Apata said the bid opening followed an advertisement placed on the 10th of May, this year, for auctioneers to show interest in auctioning the forfeited assets.

Mr. Apata also said the process would be transparent, adding that members of the committee, estate surveyors and valuers who participated in the valuation of the items to be sold, would not be allowed to bid.

The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr. Abubakar Malami, had on the 9th of November, last year, inaugurated the inter-ministerial committee on the disposal of forfeited assets to the Federal Government.

The 22-member committee, according to the Attorney General, was given six months to dispose off all forfeited assets.
