The National Coordinator, AUDA-NEPAD, Princess Gloria Akobundu has called for more involvement of traditional rulers in curbing the proliferation of small arms in the rural communities.
She stated this at a forum in Abuja organized to address insecurity in the country.
Princess Akobundu said the traditional rulers are major stakeholders in crime prevention at the grassroots.
Programme Officer, West Africa Action Network on Small Arms, a non-governmental organisation, Mr Martins Igwe explained the urgent need to curb the proliferation of illegal arms in the country.
Mr Martins maintained that Nigerians must give peace a chance irrespective of ethnic and religious affiliation.
