The National Youths Service Corps, NYSC, has re-emphasized its commitment towards the development of Nigeria and its existence as a Federal entity.
The Lagos State Coordinator, NYSC Lagos State, Mr. Eddy Megwa laid the emphasis at a Unity Match staged in Lagos to mark the forty-eighth anniversary of NYSC.
He said that the NYSC would continue to unite the nation and was poised to serve the nation as expected at all times .
The Lagos State NYSC coordinator explained that irrespective of the challenges, the nation would overcome all them through peaceful co-existence..
Speaking on the relevance of the NYSC to national development, Mr. Megwa said that the NYSC had impacted positively on the nation’s growth and development in the last forty-eight years.
He stressed that NYSC scheme had continued to champion the course of fostering unity among Nigerians.
Mr. Megwa however, appealed to those clamouring for the scrapping of the NYSC to have a re-think as the scheme had been of great benefit to the nation.
Some Corps Members representing each platoon at the event took their turns to light the NYSC anniversary torch, stated how beneficial the scheme had been to them and the nation, as well as the need for Nigeria to stand as one indivisible country.
The highlight of the event was a ceremonial parade staged by the corps members and a carnival.
