Nigerians have been urged to link their Sim cards with their National Identity Numbers (NIN) in a bid to curb the rising insecurity.
The call was made by the Director, Consumer Affairs Bureau of the Nigerian Commissions Commission (NCC), Mr Efosa Idehen at the maiden edition of the telecom consumer conversation at Garki International Market, Abuja.
He observed that when SIM Cards are properly registered, crimes with phone interactions ensued will become traceable and warned Nigerians not to use their National Identity Numbers to register other peoples SIM Cards.
On the protection of the rights of telecoms consumers, the Director said the commission was poised in ensuring consumers satisfaction and had in place a toll-free number 622 where customers could register their complaints with the commission.
Mr Idehen further called on Nigerians to be vigilant and report individuals who sold preregistered SIM Cards to the law enforcement agents.
