The newly appointed Executive Secretary National Board for Technical Education, NBTE Professor Idris Mohammed Bugaje has promised to immediately meet with the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, ASUP to resolve its lingering strike.
Professor Bugaje who was speaking to Journalists at the resumption of duty at the NBTE Secretariat Kaduna described ASUP as critical stakeholders in the development of technical education in the country.
According to the new NBTE boss, he intends to establish Zonal Offices across the geo-political zones of the country so that they will do advocacy to industries and the state governments in their zones, to enrol young people into vocational training.
Professor Idris Bugaje emphasized that NBTE would push for the establishment of more vocational institutes to produce the skilled manpower needed to drive the nation’s economy.
The Executive Secretary noted that some of the curriculums in the nations Polytechnics have existed for over Twenty years which must be reviewed adding that the Board will push for the establishment of new vocational institutions to meet global standards.
