The Federal Government is to establish Emergency Communications Centre in each state of the Federation to provide access to security and social services.
The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Pantami stated this while virtually commissioning 7 completed Digital Economy Based projects cutting across the six Geo-Political zones in the country.
Dr Pantami said the plan was in correlation with the Economic Sustainability Plan, security efforts and anti-corruption posture of the present administration.
The minister said the projects were also streamlined to implement the Federal Government recently approved National Policy on Virtual Engagements in learning Institutions in Nigeria.
The Chairman of the Projects Commissioning Committee, and Chief Executive of the Universal Service Provisions Fund, under the Nigeria Communications Commission, NCC, Mallam Ayuba Shuaibu said the projects were built to meet global standards in accordance with the necessary policies on IT Clearance.
The projects inaugurated include two Emergency Communications Centres in Abeokuta and Enugu, three Digital Economy Centres in Abuja, Lagos and Owerri and an ICT hub in ATBU Bauchi.
