Copyright Commission intensifies campaign on intellectual property

The New Nigerian Copyright Commission Ambassadors have been charged to uphold the value of intellectual property(IP) and accord due respect to strategic dissemination of IP knowledge amongst student and young people.

The Director General, Nigerian Copyright Commission, Mr. John Asein stated this when he played host to the winners of the 2020 World Intellectual Property day organized by WIPO Nigerian office.

Mr. John Asein noted that the ambassadors are expected to assist in the dissemination of copyright laws, initiates relevant programmes and activities to promote copyright and intellectual property

He stressed on the collaboration between the commission and stakeholders in the industry while noting that government would continue to provide legislative and administrative frameworks.

Mr. Asein said the commission will intensify its anti-piracy campaign.

        The ambassadors are drawn from the finalist and runners up of the 2020 world intellectual competition which had Ms. Susan Omeh as the overall winner from University of Nigeria, and Ms.Chantelle Chiwetalu also from University of Nigeria and Toheeb Balogun from University of Lagos who both came as first and second runner-up.
