Customs Strike Force Impounds over N700 Million contraband Items in Kano Jigawa Axis.
The Nigeria Customs Service CGC Strike Force Team, Zone B, says it has impounded Contraband items of Duty paid Value of N786,911,648 in the last three months in Kano and Jigawa axis.
The Strike Force Coordinator Deputy Comptroller Oseni Olorukoba stated this while displaying the seized items to journalists in Kano.
The Deputy Comptroller explained that the contraband items seized items from smugglers, includes exotic vehicles, re-bagged para-boiled long-grain rice, vegetable oil, second-hand clothes and foreign tomatoes, with a total street value of N786, 911, 648.
The Coordinator of the Zone B Customs Strike Force explained that operatives of the service impounded a black Mercedes Benz Jeep 2021 model, disguised, with a Diplomatic plate number to beat Customs, but failed and were apprehended by their officials.
The Deputy Comptroller said that the street value of the seized Black Mercedes Benz SUV, 2021 model, was N63 million.
He maintained that even though the owner of the Mercedes Benz Jeep was at large his personnel were working quickly to ensure the culprit is arrested and Prosecuted.
Deputy Comptroller Oseni Olorukoba said other contraband items impounded, includes, 410 cartons of foreign Macroni, 294 bales of second-hand clothes, 307 cartons of foreign pairs of shoes, 527 cartons of foreign soap, six and two units of trucks respectively.
The Strike Force zone B Coordinator added the Nigeria Customs service would relent in going after Smugglers ,saying they have no hiding place at the task force Zone B axis.
