The Minister of Women Affairs, Dame Pauline Tallen has called on Female Officers in the Military and Paramilitary organisations to live by example and project the image of women and the country in a positive light while discharging their responsibilities.
She made the call in Abuja at a two-day workshop on Emotional Intelligence for Officers wives and Female Officers organised by the Ministry in collaboration with a non-governmental organisation, Prime Unique Women Initiative
Dame Pauline Tallen said with the rate of insecurity in the country, it was fundamental to boost the emotional intelligence of female officers to be more productive as they were critical to improving the security architecture in the country.
“Security cannot be handled by only men. Women have strategic and critical roles to play in the entire security architecture. This workshop I strongly believe will help our women in uniform, wives of our officers. it will go a long way to help equip them better to perform better because what we want now is delivery” she said
The Convener of the non-governmental organisation Prime Unique Women Initiative, Dr Folake Yobah explained that the workshop was to train officers of security agencies especially female officers on the techniques of emotional intelligence to adopt while interacting with civilians.
“if we are able to impact this emotional intelligence knowledge in officers and men of the military, the paramilitary, the police and people who take charge of our security, we are going to have a better place to live. Because we want to reduce the frictions between these officers and the general populace.” She said
