Easter: Reps advocate more prayer for Nigeria

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr Femi Gbajabiamila, has urged Nigerians, especially Christians, to use this period of Easter and pray for the country.

Mr Gbajabiamila said despite the challenges facing the country, there will be light at the end of the tunnel, hence the need for prayers now and always.

In a statement, the Speaker called for unity of purpose among Nigerians, saying there is more that unites the people than that which divides them.

He said Nigeria is a great country with good people who have great potential, and if well harnessed, the nation and the citizens would be better for it.

Mr Gbajabiamila, specifically called on Christians to imbibe the virtues of Jesus Christ, whom he described as a role model to the world.

The Minority Caucus in the House of Representatives, Mr Ndudi Elumelu has urged Nigerians to use the occasion of this year’s Easter for spiritual regeneration as well as re-dedicate themselves and pray for God’s intervention in the security challenges facing the country.

Mr Elumelu stressed that Easter, which marks resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ from the death, with God’s love and infinite power to save.

“Indeed, Easter reminds us, as a nation and mankind in general, that all hope is not lost as long as we put our trust and faith in God in all our dealings.” Mr Ndudi Elumelu

The caucus, also called on those behind the acts of terrorism and bloodletting in the country to retrace their steps and know that their actions cannot be justified under any guise.

The lawmakers prayed for the nation and wished all compatriots a happy Easter Celebration.
