The House of Representatives says it will partner with the Nigerian Customs Service to realize the 1.67 Trillion Naira revenue target for 2021 financial year.

The Chairman House Committee on Customs, Mr. Leke Abejide stated this during the 2021 Budget Defence Session of the Nigerian Custom service in Abuja.

Mr. Abejide explained that government should release funds for the automation of Customs activities to block leakage and improve revenue generation.

The Controller General of Customs, Colonel Hamid Ibrahim Ali rtd, urged the lawmakers to educate their constituents on the need to support the agency in meeting with their constitutional duties.

A Member from Katsina State, Alh Muntari Dandutse, while attributing the insecurity in parts of the country to the influx of arms and ammunition urged customs to strengthen border control along the nation’s porous borders.
