The Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission, HYPPADEC has assured host communities of its readiness to attain its established mandate.
Established in 2010 and reviewed in 2013, HYPPADEC is saddled with the mandate of tackling the ecological menace, Improve living standards and initiate projects that will have a direct impact on Hydroelectric host communities in Benue, Kebbi, Kogi, Kwara, Niger and Plateau States.
The Managing Director of HYPPADEC, Alhaji Abubakar Yelwa gave this assurance when the Governing Council of the Commission paid a familiarization tour to all the Riverine communities in Kwara.
Alhaji Yelwa explained that the governing Council is visiting host communities whose rivers are providing power supply to the country to intimate them on the developmental plans ahead that will improve their living standard.
The Chairman Governing Council of HYPPADEC, Mr Joseph Tarfa solicits the support and cooperation of Hydroelectric host communities to actualize the ideas behind the establishment of the commission.
In their separate remarks, the Emirs Ilorin, Pategi, Lafiaji, Tsonga, Tsaragi and the Oba of Jebba, applauded the Federal Government for the initiative of setting up HYPPADEC and appealed to the governing Council to find a lasting solution to the annual loss in farming, animal production and other valuable assets due to devastating flood.
