The Director-General, National Youths Service Corps, Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim has visited a corps member who was shot during the violence that erupted at last Saturday’s bye-election into Ekiti East House of Assembly Constituency one.
The corp member has been receiving treatment at the Federal Teaching Hospital Ido-Ekiti.
He harped on the need for protection and security for Corps members on election duties.
He said though election duty for corp members was voluntary, those that participate demonstrate an act of patriotism to their fatherland, which should not be taken for granted.
He advised politicians to do their home work effectively by selling themselves to voters before election, rather than resulting to violence to win at all cost.
The NYSC Boss had earlier on arrival visited the Governor of Ekiti State, Dr Kayode Fayemi.
Dr Fayemi gave assurance that he would do everything within his powers to provide adequate security for corps members posted to Ekiti state.
