The joint caucus of the federal house of representatives from Kano and Jigawa states under the leadership of the House leader, Alhaji Alhassan Ado Doguwa has expressed their concern about the slow move in the reopening of the international wing of Aminu Kano International Airport.
Alhaji Alhassan Ado Doguwa stated this when he led members of the join caucus in an inspection visit to the international wing, at the Airport.
The House leader explained that there was a need for the quick and prompt reopening of the international wing due to the economic activities in Kano state.
Alhassan Doguwa maintained that they had earlier interacted with the Minister of Aviation to ascertain the reason behind the slow move in the reopening of the international wing.
“The Minister had explained so many technical reasons as the major problem that hinders the reopening of the Aminu Kano international wing, but we are comfortable with the explanations of the Minister and we are convinced that the federal government was committed to the reopening of the wing soon,” he said.
The House leader noted that the lawmakers would do everything possible in synergizing with agencies of government in ensuring that adequate funding was provided to agencies like aviation to achieve the set objectives.
Earlier the Managing Director of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria, FAAN Captain Rabiu Yadudu said the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic was the major stumbling block that halted the reopening of the international wing of the Aminu Kano International Airport.
He added that plans were at the top gear to the reopening of the international wing in line with the COVID-19 protocols.
The President Kano Chamber of Commerce, Industry Mines and Agriculture, Alhaji Dalhatu Abubakar commended the concern of the members of the National Assembly for their concern on the Kano business community aimed at improving the economic status of the country.
