Girl child education faces threat in Nigeria – Activist

The abduction of Government Girls Secondary School Jangebe in Talata Mafara Local Government of Zamfara State has been described as a devastating and huge setback for the Girl Child Education in the state and Nigeria as a whole.

An Activist and Former Chairperson High-Level Women Advocates(HILWA) Barr. Suwaiba Barau said this in a statement issued to newsmen in Gusau.

She said the unfortunate incident occurred at a time when they were working day and night to ensure no girl is left out of school for a better society.

According to her, it is worth mentioning that these acts of attacking and abducting students in mostly rural communities where most girls are out of school could lead to unbecoming set back to the effort of educating the girl.

Barrister Suwaiba Barau suggested that there is a need for more effective collaboration between all the stakeholders and proper synergy amongst security agencies and communities across the board to work together with a view to securing all schools and addressing criminal activities in Nigeria.
