Nasarawa State Government says it has keyed into the ongoing United Nations Integrated Peace Building Project in the state.
Special Adviser to Governor Abdullahi Sule on Non Governmental Organizations and Development Partners, Mrs Munira Abdullahi stated this in an interview with Radio Nigeria in Lafia.
Mrs Munira Abdullahi said so far, the UN – UNDP had trained over 800 beneficiaries in modern crop production and will be providing farm inputs to the farmers as part of community engagement programmes aimed at entrenching enduring peace and harmonious coexistence among the people.
She noted that the state government had made available 100 hectares of farmlands each from four communities in Awe and Keana local government areas of the state for the commencement of dry and rainy season farming Programme.
Mrs Munira Abdullahi explained that over sixty percent of farmers who have been engaged were women with a target for over 10,000 to be the indirect beneficiaries of the programme.
She added that the UN had identified and trained additional 400 farmers to make up the total number of direct beneficiaries to 1200.
The Special Adviser commended the UN for the initiative which according to her, would enhance the actualization of Governor Abdullahi Sule’s drive to economic prosperity in the state.
