Kaduna State Government has launched the State Social Protection Policy to improve the lives of poor and vulnerable in the state.
The State governor, Malam Nasiru Elrufai while launching the policy at Government house Kaduna said the policy was formerly approved by the State Executive Council in the second half of the year 2020.
He said the policy was part of his administration commitment ensure that, the life of all residents are in the basis of right not Charity.
Governor Elrufai pointed out that, to ensure the Social protection was pursued in an inclusive and sustainable manner, the Social protection policy would be supported by a Social protection law to ensure that the government deliver on its promise.
According to him, in the coming weeks, the state government would establish Social protection agency to ensure that, all the state social protection Programmes are delivered in an integrated and sustainable manner that optimizes resource utilisation and achieve high in fact.
Malam Nasiru Elrufai also announced that, the State Executive Council had approved measures to widen the digital payment infrastructure in order to help improve financial inclusion especially for rural dwellers.
National Program Manager, Child Development Grant Program CDGP of Save the Children, Mr Ajumobi Kayode Said Social protection was not only a powerful tool to address poverty, but widely recognized as an important policy instrument to address economic, social and political exclusion and vulnerability.
The Chief field of UNICEF office Kaduna Dr Adam Zakari reaffirmed UNICEF’s continued support to deliver an inclusive social protection and development of Children in Kaduna State.
