Parliamentary workers issue FG 21-day ultimatum

The Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria, PASAN has given a 21-day ultimatum to the Federal Government to fully implement the financial autonomy for all State Houses of Assembly or face a total shutdown.

According to a strike notice addressed to President Muhammadu Buhari, dated January 27th, 2021, the association said her members have run out of patience after waiting for two years without seeing any concrete move to implement the policy.

A statement released to newsmen and signed by the President of the association, Comrade Muhammad Usman and the General Secretary, D. D. Suleiman, expresses dismay at the action of the Nigerian Governors Forum, which they said was aiming at frustrating the implementation of the financial autonomy for the State Houses of Assembly.

The statement warns that if their demands are not met on or before the expiration of the 21-day ultimatum, the association would have no other option than to direct all its members nationwide to proceed on an indefinite strike.

It adds that the industrial action would be nationwide and ensure the shutdown of the National Assembly Complex, the National Assembly Service Commission, all State Houses of Assembly and all State Houses of Assembly Service Commissions.
