Customs generate N11Bn in Kwara

The Nigeria Custom Service, Kwara state Command says it has so far generated and remmitted the sum of N9,310,734,065, 11 billion naira and recovered different contraband items from July 2019 till December 2020.

The state area Controller of customs , Comptroller Ahmed Hussaini stated this while addressing Journalists on the successes recorded by the command in Ilorin.

According to him the command has generated N6.906 billion naira between the month of January to December 2020 which represent eighty six percent of the year annual target as against N2.404 billion naira generated in 2019.

He said the command has also seized 3,551 bags of foreign parboiled rice,51 used vehicles ,,3,543 kiligrams of Marijuana ,225 kegs of vegetable oil and 30 jericans of petroleum.

Comptroller Ahmed noted that six supsects were also arrested in connection with smuggling during the period under review.

The custom boss said the command will continue to collaborate with other security agencies to ensure adequate policing of the nation’s land borders.
