Six persons have been killed while five others abducted and about three thousand displaced in yet another attack by bandits in twelve villages of Paikoro local government council of Niger state.
The attack over the weekend also left over twenty people injured.
According to a resident of one of the villages, Abubakar Azaidu in a telephone interview, the over twenty people injured have been taken to a general hospital at Kafin Koro for treatment.
The resident said the bandits numbering over two hundred invaded those villages on motorcycles and carted away with all the spare parts belonging to a spare parts dealer in Amale village for their personal use.
He however said four persons were killed in Gwajau village with two others murdered in Amale village also four people kidnapped in Dakolo including a pastor in Nani villages.
All efforts to contact the Police Public Relations Officer Niger state Command ASP Wasiu Abiodun for comment was unsuccessful.
in the meantime, Vigilante members in Niger state have rescued some abducted female health workers.
The women health workers who were administering polio vaccines on children were rescued by vigilante members at Beri village of Kontagora local government council following a tip-off.
Report says a pregnant woman was among the health workers kidnapped.
District Head of Beri Malam Ahmed Tagwai confirmed the incident to Radio Nigeria in a telephone interview.
A Vigilante Commander in Beri Musa Bawa applauded his men for their efforts at rescuing the abducted health workers and solicited additional support to function effectively.
