The Director-General of Progressives Governors’ Forum, PGF, Dr. Salihu Lukman has made a passionate appeal for a meaningful engagement amongst stakeholders on the eviction order by the Ondo State government that herdsmen should leave Ondo forest.
In a statement, Dr. Lukman while expressing concern over the devisive and inflammatory rhetoric on the matter, stress that the Ondo state position is well articulated towards ensuring that the forest is not used as hideouts for suspected criminals.
He argues that the position of the Federal Government is also misinterpreted by mischief makers to imply a face-off between the Federal and Ondo state governments.
According to him, any rational person irrespective of nationality cannot oppose the laudable objective of the Ondo state government despite the ongoing media discussion.
Dr. Lukman describes the response by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu to the directive by Govornor Akeredolu as totally in variance with the intended purpose.
He therefore urges the Ondo state government and the leadership of the Falani Community to continue to dialogue to resolve the misunderstanding.
