Police have arrested an Ahmadu Bello University’s security officer for working with kidnappers to abduct staff and students.
The arrest comes in the spate of abduction for ransom that has hit the institution in recent times.
Aliyu Abubakar of the department of security was arrested by a Special Tactical Squad of Inspector-General of Police for ‘aiding and abetting’ kidnappers.
The arrest comes in the wake of staff and students being taken for ransom.
Police Public Relations Officer, CP Frank Mba, at a parade of suspected criminals in Abuja on Thursday said one Malam Jafaru, who provides ‘spiritual guidance’ to the kidnappers, was also arrested.
Spate of kidnappings in ABU
In November, gunmen abducted a staff of ABU but released his wife and daughter after a gunfight with police.
He was released in December.
