The Federal Government has promised to provide adequate social services that will improved the quality of life of the older persons in Nigeria.
The Minister of humanitarian affairs, Hajiya Sadiyya Umar Farouq stated this in Abuja at the Stakeholders engagement meeting on the establishment of the National Senior senior citizens center.
Hajiya Sadiya who noted that, the present administration has deemed it fit to cater for the senior citizens described their contributions towards nation’s building as critical.
The Minister, who assured them of the Ministry’s support to ensure the smooth take off of the centre said it would go along way in addressing their various challenges.
The President, Coalition of Societies for the Rights of Older Persons in Nigeria Senator Eze Ajoku, reiterated the commitment of the group to work assiduously for the realisation of their dreams.
The Director Social Development Department in the Ministry, Dr. Mrs Dorathy Nwodo applauded President Muhammadu Buhari for signing into law the National Senior Citizens Centre Act, to coordinate all concern of older persons in the country.
