Imo State Government has sought Federal Government’s assistance to effectively cater for patients of COVID-19 pandemic.
Governor Hope Uzodinma stated this in Abuja while speaking with State House correspondents after his meeting with President Buhari.
He noted that the 2nd wave of the pandemic was more devastating, hence the need to stem its spread quickly.
The Governor noted that the state alone cannot win the fight without federal government’s intervention.
Governor Uzodinma said he had issued an Executive Order criminalising refusal-to-wear-mask, which would come into effect after a 14-day ultimatum given.
The Governor said he had already established six mobile courts to try offenders, while a taskforce on COVID-19 had been set up, in addition to five fully-equipped isolation centres to ward off the disease.
Governor Uzodinma said the government had deployed town-cries to continually remind the people on the need to observe the established protocols aimed at breaking the spread of the disease.
