Security agencies in collaboration with the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), have secured the release of 45 kidnap victims in Katsina State in the last one week.
Governor Aminu Bello Masari who disclosed this shortly after he interviewed the rescued persons at the Government House in Katsina, explained that 37 indigenes of Zamfara State were rescued last week and handed over to the Zamfara State government while 9 others, citizens of Niger Republic were rescued on Sunday.
He said the 9 Nigeriens who were abducted from Bima village in Maradi were handed over to the Nigerien government after due examination by a medical team in Katsina.
The governor pointed out that no ransom was paid to the bandits to secure the release of the abducted persons.
Alhaji Aminu Masari however regretted that there were still dozens of kidnap victims in the custody of their abductors, as security agents were trying their best to rescue them as soon as possible.
