The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court in Bwari, Abuja, on Wednesday, stopped criminal complaints case instituted against 50 activists and celebrities in the aftermath of the violence that trailed the #EndSARS protests.
The anti-police brutality protest tagged #EndSARS had started peacefully but later turned violent leaving a trail of looting, vandalism and killings.
A lawyer, Kenechukwu Okeke, in the complaints filed at Chief Magistrate’s Court, asked that the 50 defendants be brought to justice for allegedly promoting the #EndSARS protests which he claimed led to riots that caused destruction of lives and property in different parts of the country.
The judge, Bello Kawu, dismissed the cases
Those sued by Mr Okeke include Deji Adeyanju, Damini Ogulu, also known as Burna Boy, David Adeleke (Davido), Folarin Falana (Falz), Debo Adebayo (Mr Macaroni), and Maryam Akpaokagi (Taoma).Others are, Peter and Paul Okoye (P-Square), Innocent Idibia (Tuface), Bankole Wellington (Banky W), Tiwa Savage, Michael Ajereh (Don Jazzy) and Yemi Alade.
