COVID-19: Kaduna may return to lockdown- El-Rufai

Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai has expressed concern over rising cases of COVID-19 and has threatened to lock down the state again if residents continue to violate COVID-19 Safety protocols.

The State Governor who announced this while signing the State 2021 Budget into law at Government House Kaduna observed that the state had seen an increase in coronavirus cases going by samples collected in recent weeks and has therefore decided that all employees of the state government must be tested.

Governor El-Rufai appealed to residents of the state to avoid large gatherings, stressing that the COVID-19 is real, he added that mobile courts will be returned to enforce the wearing of masks to prevent continued spread of the virus.

While signing the budget, Malam El-Rufai said Kaduna for the last 5 years is the only state to commenced implementation of a new budget on 1st January, due to the commitment of members of the State House of Assembly.

Malam Nasiru El-Rufai called on government officials as well as members of the State House of Assembly to take cognisance of the importance of 2021, stressing that the state and the country at large had lost 2020 to COVID-19.

Meanwhile, BUA foundation has donated 3 ambulances, and 50,000 face masks to Kaduna State Government to support in combating COVID-19.
