The Nigeria Governors Forum NGF is to meet with President Mohammadu Buhari on the security challenges, particularly the recent killings of rice farmers by Boko Haram in Borno State.
Chairman of the Forum and governor of Ekiti State Dr Kayode Fayemi stated this after the 22nd hybrid meeting of the forum.
Governor Fayemi explained that Governors would support reforms in the police to improve internal security.
The Governors directed the States Attorney Generals to review the Water Resources Bill and send their input to the Forum.
The governors also pledged to achieve the second Eligibility Criteria requirement of publishing online approved Budget, prepared under the National Chart of Accounts, before the end of 31 January 2021 to promote accountability.
The statement noted that governors endorse the two proposals that canvassed for infrastructure development by both the Governor Nasir El Rufai led Committee and the Central Bank Nigeria Governor, Godwin Emefiele, noting that both had a similar proposal to access N15trillion for national infrastructure funding through INFRACREDIT at a lower interest rate of five per cent.
Governors also inaugurate the Nigerian Governors Forum National Economic Summit Group Steering Committee, and encourage the Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities ASUU, to hasten the implementation of the truce elements in their resolutions so as to allow public universities reopen immediately.
