The Federal government has commissioned a new 2X60 MVA 132/33KV transmission substation at Gagarawa local government area of Jigawa State.
Speaking at the occasion, Minister of Power Alhaji Sale Mamman explained that the project which is now a reality for the benefit of residents of Jigawa State was a contract initially awarded in 2012 to be executed within two years.
According to him, the completion of this project confirmed the pledge of President Muhammadu Buhari to complete all abandoned projects across the country and was also an effort to ensure stable power supply for sustainable socio-economic development of the nation.
The Minister noted that, the project will enhance power supply in the state and help in industrial development thereby supporting job creation and poverty reduction in Jigawa State and the country at large.
In his speech, Governor Badaru Abubakar of Jigawa State said the state government had signed a contract for communities to be connected to the new substation.
Governor Badaru Abubakar added that already an agreement had been signed with investors for the establishment of factories around seven local government areas of the state.
