Qatar Charity, a humanitarian and development non-governmental organization in the Middle East, is constructing a knowledge acquisition centre for vulnerable people in Damaturu, the Yobe state capital.
The proposed centre will consist of a school, Juma’ah mosque, 150 capacity orphanage, a clinic and shops.
At a foundation laying of the center on Friday, at the Redbrick Housing Estate on Damaturu-Maiduguri road, Governor Mai Mala Buni said the center, would attract scholars and students from far and near for studies and research.
He said the center would also help curtail the spread of extremist ideologies and heretical beliefs and promised to partnership with the center to promote authentic Islamic knowledge in the state.
Executive Director of the Qatar Charity, Hamid Elsayed Muhammad said the organisation would also construct fifty boreholes, twenty mosque and two hundred economic empowerment projects for youth and women, in 2021.
Also at the event, the organisation distributed grinding and sawing machines, wheelchairs and livestock, to 135 people.
