Minister of communication and digital economy, Dr. Isa Pantami on Friday inaugurated the first centre for artificial intelligence and robotics, in Abuja.
He said establishing the centre was in line with the digital skills acquisition drive as entrenched in the National Economic Development Policy and Strategy (NEDPS) of the Federal Government.
The Centre will serve as a leading hub of innovation, research and development, knowledge transfer and training in emerging technologies, Dr. Pantami said.
The Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency, NITDA, Mr Kashifu Abdullahi challenged youths to take advantage of the initiatives to drive innovation through technology.
The Centre is equipped with training facilities, 3D Printers, co-working space for start-ups, digital innovation laboratory, makerspace and fabrication laboratory infrastructure, printed circuit board facilities and offices of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Regional Entrepreneurship Acceleration Program (MIT – REAP) and the Office for ICT Innovation and Entrepreneurship (OIIE) NITDA’s subsidiary arm for Innovation.
