DG FRCN advocates more funding for the corporation

The Director-General of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, Dr.Mansur Liman has called for more funding for the Corporation to enable it to deliver on its mandate.

He made the call at the 2021 budget defence of the corporation before the House of Representatives Committee on Information, National Orientation, Ethics and Values at the National Assembly.

Dr Liman stressed the need for robust and functional stations across the country to enable the corporation perform optimally.

 The DG explained that out of the  over 10.3 billion naira budget over 9 billion naira is for personal cost, over 193 million for overhead cost, and over 565 million naira is for is for capital projects.

Responding to questions on effort being made by FRCN to adopt innovations such as the new media, the DG explained the steps taken by the corporation to adopt the new trend.

The chairman of the committee, Mr Olusegun Odebunmi, while commending the DG for his contributions to National unity and development, urged him to continue in propagating peace in Nigeria.

The Nigerian Television Authority NTA, Voice of Nigeria VON and the  News Agency of Nigeria NAN, were also present for the Budget defence.

Great and appropriate demand by the DG. FRCN remains the fulcrum of public broadcasting in Nigeria and needs adequate funding for its enormous responsibilities.
I sincerely hope and pray that the Corporation will get appropriate and adequate funding as enunciated by the Director General.
