The Director-General of Progressives Governors’ Forum, PGF, Mallam Salihu Lukman has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to overhaul the machinery of his administration if the nation’s democracy and government are to meet the expectations of the citizens.
In a statement in Abuja, Mallam Salihu explains that the Federal Government has the superior responsibility to initiate a response to the current crisis, hence, the need for government agencies to respond to public needs.
He said if all government agencies and appointees of the Federal Government were alive to their responsibilities, the current pressure on the president to act in the wake of the protest would not have arisen.
The PGF Director-General explained that though governors were at the receiving end of the crisis, given their constitutional powers, they also had critical responsibilities to respond to emergencies.
He called on the APC-led Federal Government to save its image by developing a strong national response to restore peace and order in the country to avoid losing moral credibility to present candidates for any election.
