Update: COVID19 palliative warehouses attacked in Kwara

They was an attack on the Ilorin Cargo Terminal, housing Covid-19 palliatives donated to the state government.

Correspondent Lawrence Afolabi who was at the scene of the incidence reports that a group of people, mostly youth, forcefully broke into the Cargo Shed where the items, mostly food produce, were stored.

Earlier report had said the state government called the attention of security agents to intelligence reports over plott to attack public institutions in the state.

Kwara state Commissioner for Communication, Harriet Afolabi-Oshatimehin, in a statement described the act as condemnable, inexplicable, and does not reflect the good nature of the people of the state”.

Another warehouse popularly called Agro Mall, housing palliatives donated has also been attacked and emptied.

A statement by Chief Press Secretary to the State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazak said the attack was suspected to have been carried out by same suspects who attacked another warehouse earlier.

This warehouse has food produce for victims of flooding in the state.

The statement said there were also attacks on Customs office Ilorin and some private firms, which it describes as a case of pure hooligalism.
