Residents carting away food items from one of the warehouses in Ilorin, Kwara state
Kwara state government has imposed a 24 hour curfew.
A large crowd had attacked government warehouses in cargo terminal area and Agro mall with items such as spaghetti, noodles, salt and sugar carted away.
In a broadcast late Friday night, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq said the curfew became imperative in view of criminalities that had taken place within the metropolis in the last few hours.
He noted that lives are being threatened, businesses are being looted and public property are being vandalized.
The governor said security agents have been mandated to ensure compliance to the curfew, which he said was meant to protect lives.
