The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors, NARD has condemned the recent spate of killing of unarmed innocent Citizens in the country.
In a statement by the president of the Association, Dr. Uyilawa Okhuaihesuyi, the group appealed to president Muhammadu Buhari and the National Assembly to speak to Nigerians and address these legitimate demands.
It states that Medical Doctors have also been at the receiving end of this dastardly act by members of the now defunct Special Anti-robbery Squad (SARS).
The group also called for the removal of military personnels from the streets and to restrain the police from shooting at unarmed citizens.
While calling on the protesters to put in place infection prevention methods to prevent the resurgence of COVID-19, the group urged them to conduct themselves peacefully and not to allow thugs to take advantage of the protest.
The Resident Doctors pledged their support in the management of injured Nigerians where necessary, but called on both the federal and state governments to ensure safe movement of Doctors and other health workers during this period and the hours of curfew.
