The National Human Rights Commission, NHRC, has submitted the report of the Presidential Investigation Panel on Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, of the Nigerian Police to the Chairman Police Service Commission, Mr. Musliu Smith for immediate implementation.
In a statement in Abuja, the Executive Secretary of NHRC, Mr. Tony Ojukwu expressed confidence in the ability of the Police Service commission to effectively implement the report.
Mr Ojukwu said with the submission of the report, the hope of Nigerians would be raised towards having a more professional and patriotic Police force that was truly their friend.
The NHRC Chief Executive Officer said the report contained the recommendations targeted at bringing the needed reforms in the Police force.
Mr. Smith described the occasion as memorable and commended the NHRC for the good work it had done in the interest of the public. He said there was the need to put all modalities in place to start the immediate implementation of the recommendations as the report came handy with the series of protests by youths in the last one week.
