The Kano state government has approved the re-opening of public and private schools in the state.
The Commissioner for Education, Alhaji Mohammad Sanusi-kiru stated this while briefing journalists in Kano.
He said the re-opening of the schools commences from eleventh of October 2020.
The Commissioner explained that the resumption was categorized into different batches.
”Primary six pupils from public schools and primary five pupils from private schools would resume to schools, while primary 1 and 2 pupils would be attending schools only on Mondays and Tuesdays”. He Noted.
He said pupils of primary 3 and 4 and 5 would be attending schools on Thursdays and Fridays only with effect from 12 October 2020.
Alhaji Mohammad Sanusi-kiru maintained that Jss1 and SS1 students are to stay at home for another five weeks,
He explained that JSS 3, JSS 2 and SS 2 students are to resume fully to enable them prepare for the forthcoming transitional and qualifying examinations.
The commissioner noted that all the 15 Government owned Tsangaya schools are to resume fully with effect from 11 October 2020 ,while islamiyya schools that are duly registered with Kano state quranic and islamiyya schools board are to reopen with effect from 12 October 2020.
He warned proprietors of islamiyya schools not to collect money from parents in the name of providing face masks, hand washing and other PPEs, as government would cater for all needed PPEs to all registered islammiya schools.
