The Police Command in Anambra state says it has arrested a man for allegedly killing his aged father and burying him inside a shallow grave.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Haruna Muhammed, security personnel attached to Umunze Division in collaboration with local Vigilante arrested the suspect, Chisom Ogum in Umuomaku community of Orumba South local government area of the state.
The twenty-six-year-old suspect allegedly ran amok in a circumstance yet to be ascertained, attacked and killed his own biological father, Christopher Ogum with a shovel and buried him in a shallow grave.
Mr Muhammed explains that the suspect attempted to escape before he was apprehended and beaten to stupor by an angry mob who equally forced him to exhume the corpse of his father from where he buried the seventy-year-old victim.
According to the statement, police detectives visited the scene of the crime, photographed the victim and took the remains to the mortuary for autopsy after he was certified dead by a medical doctor at General Hospital Umunze.
Meanwhile the Commissioner of police in the state, Mr John Abang has ordered for the case to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigative Department for discreet investigation.
