Drug factory places fake NAFDAC registration number on products

The National Agency for Food Drugs Administration and Control, NAFDAC has uncover fake Animal drugs factory at Bichi local Government Area of Kano state.

NAFDAC Coordinator in Kano, Alhaji Shaba Mohammad stated this while briefing journalists on the recovered fake products at the illegal factory in bichi town.

He said NAFDAC has been trailing the culprits for the past six months when the products was in circulation at sabon Gari market in Kano.

Alhaji Shaba Mohammad said the alleged manufacturer of the counterfeit products named Mohammad Sani has been producing the products for the past twelve months without NAFDAC registration number.

NAFDAC Coordinator maintained that the Agency has not conducted any laboratory test on the drugs, yet he placed a fake NAFDAC registration number on the products.

He explained that after sufficient intelligence report, they were able to locate the fake factory, which lead to the raid.

The Coordinator said investigation was currently ongoing and NAFDAC would conduct laboratory test on the counterfeit products to ascertain the level of damage the products have caused the users (Animals) in the last twelve months.

Alhaji Shaba Mohammad charged lawful drug dealers to beware of patronizing products from manufacturers that do not have genuine NAFDAC registration number.

He said that the agency would not relent in fishing out illegal manufacturers of fake drugs adding they have no hiding place in Kano.

Alleged manufacturer, Mohammad Sani claimed to be a higher National Diploma Holder on Animal Health and Prediction Technology from Audi Bako College of Agriculture Kano.

He said he was producing drugs without NAFDAC registration number, and have never conducted any laboratory test on the drugs and injectables.

“I do not have any register neither do I conduct any laboratory test on the products I produces, I am actually guilty, I hope authorities would be consider my ignorance” Mohammad Sani stated.

Mohammad Sani said he had never received any information of negative impact on his products on Animals.

He said Mohammad has produced thirty-seven cartons of the counterfeit drugs weekly for the past one year.
