The Federal Government has inaugurated a Central Database System for the tracking, recovery and management of all assets recovered by various anti-corruption agencies in the country.
Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Mr. Abubakar Malami, made this known during a sensitisation workshop for relevant stakeholders in Abuja.
Mr. Malami said the central database would help create synergy among relevant agencies for the purpose of assets recovery, adding that it would make for transparency and accountability on the assets recovered within and outside the country.
Mr. Malami said the Office of the AGF was developing legislation for full implementation and operation of the Central Criminal Justice information system to ensure compliance.
The Minister of Justice further said that the inauguration of the National Anti-Corruption Strategy is to provide a coordinated national policy that would guide all sectors and stakeholders in the fight against corruption as well as identify and close the existing gaps in the anti-corruption initiative currently in place.
