The Federal Government says it will soon ban the importation of Fish and Milk into the country.
The Minister of Agriculture and Natural resources Sambo Nanono disclosed this at the inauguration of the Agribusiness incubation center (AIC) at Federal University Dutse, in Jigawa state.
He said the Federal Government will look critically into any means of food importation into the country.
He said Nigeria has about twenty-five million cows in the country and only five litres of milk is consumed a day.
Nanono said the only problem the country is facing is the production of milk.
He said the Federal Government has started a programme called Small scale milk processing centers to mitigate the importation of the milk in to the country.
According to him, there are over seven of these centers and more would be developed in the country.
Nanono said the Dawakin- Kudu centre in kano alone is galvanizing over twelve thousand Fulani cattle rearers in the area.
