Ecological Fund inaugurates second project at ABU

Secretary to the government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha represented by the permanent Secretary Ecological Fund Office, Dr. Habiba Lawal at the inauguration

Federal government through the Ecological Fund Office, EFO says it will continue to implement massive flood and erosion control projects across the country toward entrenching equity and justice for all.

Secretary to the government of the Federation, SGF. Boss Mustapha stated this during the inauguration of Ecological Fund Intervention Project at the main campus, Phase 2 site, Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, kaduna state-Nigeria.

Represented by the permanent Secretary Ecological Fund Office, Dr. Habiba Lawal, the Secretary to the Federation explained that the project was the second government intervention at the university and the twenty second Ecological intervention project approved by the presidency for the second quarter, 2018.

According to Mr. Boss Mustapha, the project would check Erosion and Flood as well as provide improved access road to the main campus new site (Phase 2) to enhance learning and working condition within the expanded institution.

He said the project was also initiated to address the alarming deterioration arising from Erosion and Flood menace to enable students have access to the newly completed Dangote Hostel situated at the main campus, Phase 1 and 2.

Mr. Boss Mustapha urged the university community to make good use of the project by taking it’s ownership, maintenance and sustainability

In a welcome address, Vice Chancellor, Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, Professor Kabir Bala expressed gratitude to the President Buhari led administration for making the project a priority and working hard toward ensuring its logical completion.

He said the first and second completed projects at the University such as dam rehabilitation and roads construction would go along way in providing enough water for irrigation farming as well as linkage between phase 1 and 2 for both staff and students.

The ABU Vice Chancellor added as part of recommendation that the first segment of the road from ICSA/Ramat Hostel to the main campus site two- be named after Barrister Boss Mustapha, while the second segment from the Area BZ round about to main campus site two- be named Dr. Habiba Lawal.
