The Director-General, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu says one person has died on Monday around Oshodi Lagos, after a 2 cars collided with a train.
A statement by Dr Oke-Osanyintolu says a bus with number plate GGE 972 GE and a highlander Jeep, with a driver and a single passenger veered onto a train track to beat the traffic, and collided with a commuter train.
He said the two vehicles were dragged along before the train came to a complete halt.
8 passengers were extricated, 6 with minor injuries and 2 males including a 20 year old sustained severe injuries and were taken to Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, he said.
The vehicles were recovered off the road.
He urged members of the public, to be cautious at level crossing and refrain from the dangerous habit, “of thinking they can smartly cross even when the train is already approaching.”
