Federation of Tourism Association of Nigeria (FTAN), has called on the Federal Capital Territory Administration to implement the FCT Tourism Master Plan to position the FCT as a tourism destination to reckon within the industry.
President of FTAN, Alhaji Rabo Saleh who made this known at a courtesy visit by the association to the office of the Minister of State for Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the private sector must be actively involved for a speedy economic recovery plan. According to him, 80% of all tourism-related businesses that provide over 30,000 jobs in the FCT are private-sector driven.
Alhaji Rabo called for a Public-Private Partnership in the development of domestic tourism sites like the Jabi Lake, Katampe Hills and other parks within the FCT.
Minister of State for Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Dr. Ramatu Tijjani Aliyu, represented by Senior Special Assistant on Administration and Strategy, Prof. Muhammad Usman who stressed the need to review the FCT Tourism Master Plan noted that with the nation’s population projected to reach 450 million by 2050, there was a need for all sectors of the economy to be active especially to regulate unemployment.
The representative of the Minister hinted that the administration would soon commence the upgrade of Jabi Lake to enhance the recreational and economic potential of the Lake.
